Chocolate Rice Krispy Cakes

It’s a sunny Sunday March morning and what better quick and easy kitchen treat to make – Chocolate Rice Krispy cakes.

As I’m sure you’ve noticed most cakes or treats we make have sprinkles on – we love them and these were given the sprinkle treatment along with bonus Smarties.

We used and old recipe my mum always followed: 3 oz Rice Krispies, 4 tbsp golden syrup, 1 tbsp caster sugar, 1 tbsp butter, 2 tbsp drinking chocolate powder.

Melt butter and sugar in pan, add golden syrup then chocolate powder, mix together and then stir in the Rice Krispies- mix well.  Divide between cake cases and leave in the fridge for about 30mins to set.  Then enjoy!

As it was such a lovely day we took ours and some sandwiches to the beach and had a little picnic.
